Ingredients
  

  • cup finely diced celery
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage
  • ¾ cup melted butter, or as needed
  • 3 tsp poultry seasoning
  • ¾ cup chopped onion
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • 8 cups white bread cubes

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Cook and stir sausage in the skillet for 5-7 minutes, until browned and crumbly.

  • Use a slotted spoon to transfer sausage to a large bowl.

  • Pour the sausage drippings into a measuring cup and add enough melted butter to make 1 cup.
  • Pour this mixture into the skillet over medium heat.
  • Sauté celery and onions in the butter mixture until the onions are tender, without browning.

  • Stir in 1/3 of the bread cubes.
