For the Chicken Layers
- 4 chicken breasts
- 8 slices ham
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
For the Sauce
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ cup breadcrumbs optional topping
Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the chicken breasts.
Place the chicken in a single layer so it cooks evenly.
Lay two slices of ham on each piece of chicken.
Place a slice of cheese over the ham so it melts directly into the chicken.
In a bowl, whisk the cream of chicken soup, cream, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Pour the mixture evenly so every piece is coated.
If you want a textured topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top.
Cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
Check that the chicken is soft and cooked through.
Turn off the heat and let the dish settle so the sauce thickens slightly.
Serving: Scoop the chicken gently and spoon extra sauce over the top. A sprinkle of parsley or a squeeze of lemon makes it taste even fresher.
