Ingredients

For the Chicken Layers

  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 8 slices ham
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

For the Sauce

  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs optional topping

Instructions

  • Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the chicken breasts.
    Season the Chicken
  • Place the chicken in a single layer so it cooks evenly.
Layer the Chicken in the Slow Cooker
  • Lay two slices of ham on each piece of chicken.
    Add the Ham
  • Place a slice of cheese over the ham so it melts directly into the chicken.
    Add the Swiss Cheese
  • In a bowl, whisk the cream of chicken soup, cream, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
    Mix the Sauce
  • Pour the mixture evenly so every piece is coated.

    Add the Breadcrumbs
  • Cook on LOW for 5–6 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  • Check that the chicken is soft and cooked through.
    Check for Tenderness
  • Turn off the heat and let the dish settle so the sauce thickens slightly.
    Let It Rest
  • Serving: Scoop the chicken gently and spoon extra sauce over the top. A sprinkle of parsley or a squeeze of lemon makes it taste even fresher.
