Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cup
  • Small plate
  • Knife
  • Citrus juicer
  • Strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 oz Cointreau or sub triple sec
  • 2 lime wedges for rimming glasses plus more for garnish
  • oz freshly squeezed lime juice
  • ¼ cup kosher salt or coarse sea salt for rimming glasses
  • Ice
  • 3 oz vodka

Instructions

  • Spread salt evenly on a small plate.
  • Take a lime wedge and run it along the outer rims of two glasses, then dip them in salt to coat.
  • Fill each glass with ice and set aside. In a cocktail shaker, add vodka, Cointreau, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
  • Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.
  • Strain the margarita evenly into the prepared glasses.
  • Garnish with lime wheels, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use high-quality vodka for a cleaner taste, as lower-quality options may make the drink taste harsh.
  • Freshly squeezed lime juice is essential—bottled lime juice can make the drink taste artificial.
  • If you prefer a sweeter drink, add a splash of simple syrup or agave nectar to balance the tartness.
